This is the country music I grew up with, you can tell they’re brothers because their voices are so similar
In 2016, Randy Travis was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, and his brother David delivered a heartfelt tribute during the ceremony. David recounted the early days of their musical careers and how they performed together as a duo, even sharing a bed on the road when times were tough. He spoke about Randy’s passion for music and how he fought to overcome obstacles to pursue his dream.
David also spoke about Randy’s perseverance in the face of adversity, referencing the stroke he suffered in 2013 that left him unable to speak or perform. Despite the setback, Randy has continued to make progress in his recovery and even sang a few words during the induction ceremony.
David closed his tribute with a touching statement about his brother’s impact on the country music genre: “Randy is not just a country music singer. He is country music. His story, his voice, his songs, his life is a testament to what country music is all about.” The emotional tribute was met with a standing ovation from the audience.
